The Story of Elizabeth Blackwell

amjaussi

By Mrs. Nunez, Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten students had the chance to lead our devotional this week. They taught us about the life of Elizabeth Blackwell and the importance of working hard to achieve our goals. Their enthusiasm to never give up is a great reminder to us all!

Elizabeth Blackwell was born in England on January 23, 1849. She was the first woman to graduate from medical school in the United States.

She moved to America when she was a child.

As a young girl, she wanted to help people, especially sick people.

Back in those days, most doctors were men, but she didn’t give up.

She worked hard and went to medical school in New York.

She worked hard and made it possible for more women to be doctors too.

She showed us we can do anything if we work hard and never give up.

Our Advanced Latin Class also shared The Lord's Prayer in Latin, "Pater Noster".

We are so proud of our hard working students!

This historical thought was delivered by our Kindergarten students at devotional on 01/23/2025. Each week one class leads the student body in prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, scripture recitation, a meditation, and an historical thought. Family and friends are welcome, Thursdays 8:30-9:05 am.
