The Battle of Hastings, fought on October 14, 1066 is one of the most significant events in English history. This historical battle, won by the Duke of Normandy, has shaped our way of life. Celebrating Hastings Day has become a favorite tradition amongst our Belmont students.
Our school was set back in time. Sudents entered a "medieval castle" with classrooms full of knights, vikings, peasants, princesses, princes, queens, blacksmiths and beyond!
Students gathered together to enjoy a delicious feast followed by scrumptious pies.
Following the meal and musical entertainment, they gathered in the courtyard to enjoy games and challenges together. Our upper school students were challenged with the great task of translating the Bayeux Tapestry that consists of 58 Latin scripted scenes of the famous Battle of Hastings.
This joyful event could not have been possible without our parent volunteers. We cannot thank them enough for the time and effort put into transforming our school into a medieval castle and helping set up, prepare, and serve our medieval feast. It was a wonderful way to celebrate together before departing for fall break.
